If you’re new to church or exploring faith, we’re really glad you’re here. Visiting a church for the first time can feel daunting, so we want to help you feel relaxed and at ease from the moment you arrive.

What to Expect on a Sunday

A warm welcome
From the moment you arrive, someone will be there to greet you. There’s no pressure to do or say anything — just come as you are.

Our service 10:30am
Our Sunday service starts at 10:30am and usually lasts around 75 minutes. We spend time worshipping Jesus through music, hearing teaching from the Bible that’s practical and relevant, and praying together.

What should I wear?
There’s no dress code. Most people come in everyday clothes — wear whatever you feel comfortable in.

Children at Horizon Church

Children are very welcome at Horizon Church. We have dedicated groups for children during the service, designed to be safe, fun, and age‑appropriate.On your first visit, we encourage you to check in with our Children’s Ministry Team, who will be happy to help you and your children get settled. There’s no pressure for children to go to groups — they’re welcome to stay with you if you prefer.

Who We Are

Horizon Church is a friendly, Bible‑centred Christian church based in Stanley, Wakefield, serving the local community and the wider Wakefield and Leeds area. We’re people of all ages and backgrounds, united in our love for Jesus and our desire to grow in faith together. Formerly known as Zion Christian Centre, we continue the same church family and mission under a new name that reflects what God is doing among us today.
